February 12th Announcements

MARK YOUR CALENDAR! PLCW is having a bake sale after worship next Sunday, February 19th. Pie and coffee will also be offered for a nominal fee.

NO COUNCIL MEETING ON MONDAY, February 13th. Sorry about the error on the newsletter calendar.

MOVIES IN THE LOFT – Movie date - Friday, February 24. Sign up today in Luther Hall for your pizza dinner and reserved movie seat.  Dinner is $6.00 at 6 p.m.  The movie is Moneyball and is classified as comedy-drama.  It is a great baseball film based on a true story and stars Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill.  This movie is up for several academy awards and will be shown at 7:00 p.m.  Should you need a ride, just check the box next to you name.

NEW EVENT - Hospitality is planning a late afternoon of table games in March.  Please take a look today at the game list in Luther Hall and check off the old familiar games that you played in the past or are still enjoying today.  On Saturday, March 10 from 3:00-5:30 p.m., game tables will be set up in Luther Hall, complete with pre-dinner appetizers.  Plan to enjoy this afternoon with us.  More details in your March issue of The Light.

NEEDED!!! THERE’S A SIGN-UP SHEET for Sunday coffee hour: (1) for purchasing donuts and (2) for clean-up. If you sign up for purchasing donuts, please take an instruction card from the sign-up notebook and mark your scheduled date. We appreciate all of you who volunteer for this ministry to PLC. No sign-ups, no coffee or donuts – sorry.

2012 FLOWER CHART is on the wall in the Narthex. There are lots of spaces available, so please sign up for a special Sunday.

BECAUSE OF THE NEW ACCOUNTING PRACTICES, we need two volunteers willing to count the offering at the end of the service each Sunday. Once the money is counted and recorded on the short form provided, the money would be placed in the safe in the church office to be entered on the offering counting sheet on Tuesday. If you are willing to volunteer to count after worship on Sundays, please sign up on the sheet provided in the Narthex.

A NOTE FROM CARLY KERNEY: “Dear Friends and family of PLC, Introducing the first students of Kitwe Secondary School! On January 9, we celebrated the opening of the school with a huge community celebration at Kitwe. I cannot thank you enough for your generous donation to the school, students and community. This school is going to bring opportunity to the village and the community for generations to come. Thank you so much, from myself and from the community of Kitwe, for contributing to the construction of this school. With love, Carly Kerney”. The picture of the school is on the bulletin board in Luther Hall.

SAVE THE DATE: PASTOR NEWT is retiring after 35 years of clergy service. Celebration to honor him will be on June 9, 2012 in Rohnert Park, CA. Please e-mail pictures of Pastor Kerney that would go into a slide show depicting his many years of service to revnewtparty@gmail.com. (Announcement is on the Luther Hall bulletin board.)
